The Role
The Service Technician I provides equipment services under the close supervision of management, or a more senior level Service Technician. Duties include, but are not limited to, inspection of equipment for completeness, mechanical and electrical safety if applicable, and proper equipment operation. The individual also performs planned maintenance inspections, calibrations, and repairs of low complexity equipment. The Service Tech I may assist other technicians in the troubleshooting and major repair of high complexity equipment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Technical Service – 60%
Perform complete operational performance inspections, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections (ESI) and verification/validation procedures on equipment when applicable
Repair to the subassembly or board level and calibrate equipment
Inform manager of the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual equipment situations, and any customer concerns
Maintain equipment knowledge and expertise for a specified group of equipment within one product family through ongoing training
Regulatory Compliance – 30%
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database to include the inventory, performance assurance inspections, nomenclature, service history and all QMS required documentation
Adhere to the most current QMS processes and procedures, including all regulatory agency compliances and other applicable policies and procedures
Responsible for ensuring all service and documentation is complete, timely, and accurate
Service Parts Inventory – 10 %
Adhere to Service procedures and policies regarding the use and transaction of service parts
Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the equipment service database to ensure it reflects an accurate accounting of service parts inventory
May assist with periodic service parts inventory reconciliation
Education And Qualifications
- 2-year degree in an industry related technical/electronics field or equivalent experience required. This requirement may be waived if the applicant has comparable military or other industry experience of at least 4 years
- 6 months direct experience working with industry related equipment in a service environment preferred
- Knowledge of A/D and D/A converters, microprocessors, analog and digital circuits
- Knowledge of helium neon lasers, and/or collecting and condensing optics helpful but not required
- Travel may be required based on business needs
