Aircraft Sheet Metal/Structures Mechanic AM-2 (UH-60, AH-64, CH-47) MWO - FT. Riley, KS - Military Veterans

The Aircraft Sheet Metal/Structures Mechanic AM-2 (UH-60, AH-64, CH-47) MWO maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty.

• Required - Three (3) years aviation maintenance experience, three (3) years Rotary wing aircraft experience, and two (2) years on the assigned aircraft (UH-60, AH-64, CH-47) Mission Design Series (MDS) is Required.
  
• US Citizenship is Required for Facility and base access, and to obtain the NAC-I Public Trust Clearance.
  
• Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
  
• Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.
  
• Applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation.
  
• Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as aircraft technical manuals, maintenance information, blueprints or manufactures' manuals and action messages.
  
• Safely prepares aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.
  
• Required level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class. Must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.
  
• Will receive technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  
• Perform scheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections.
  
• Use and perform operator maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment.
  
• Perform other duties as required.
  

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is Required.
  
• A valid (FAA) A&P certificate is preferred but not required.
  
• Three (3) years aviation maintenance experience, three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two (2) years on the assigned aircraft (UH-60, AH-64, CH-47) Mission Design Series (MDS) is Required.
  
• All experience must be within the Six (6) most recent years.
  
• Required thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures and replacement of parts requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
  
• Required working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, and the Army's Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System, ULLSAE.
  
• Mechanics must provide their own tools/toolbox. Tools must be shadowed and etched with PID.
  
• A valid Driver's License is Required.
  
• The MWO travel team may Travel (up to 75% of the time); Structures Mechanic must be willing and able to travel if requested, as needed to support operational mission requirements.
  

Clearance Requirements:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a NAC-I (T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
  

Preferred and Additional Qualifications:

• All mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements.
  
• Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
  
• Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
  
• Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work specifications is a plus.
  

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lifts parts and equipment up to 25 pounds.
  
• Occasionally lifts objects up to 50 pounds.
  
• Most heavy lifting is accomplished using mechanical devices.
  
• Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruised from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts in shop area.
  
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
  
• The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  
• The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance.
