Responsibilities
SUMMARY: Welds all types of commonly used metals and alloys of various sizes, shapes and thicknesses, including dissimilar metals such as copper to steel. Operates various hand-welding, flame-cutting, hand-soldering or brazing equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations or seams of fabricated metal products. May set up, operate and/or tend to robots that weld, braze, solder or heat treat metal products, components or assemblies
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal parts and other weldable material to form permanent bonds by applying appropriate welding techniques.
- Prepares the materials and set up for a welding device or robot.
- Welds metal components and parts using specialized equipment such as gas welders and gas torches.
- Uses electrical currents to create heat and bond metals.
- Plans work by interpreting blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics.
- Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
- Vocational/Technical Training Degree
- Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education and Experience
- Preferred Discpline/Major: Associate's Degree with Technical degree or equivalent training and experience
- 2-4 years prior experience in a similar position
