What You Will Do
Join our world-class software development team! Working alongside some of the brightest minds, you will join the Special Projects software development team within the Mission Application Services (MAS) Group (ADS-MAS). The Application and Data Services (ADS) Division supports Los Alamos National Laboratory's (LANL) enterprise applications and performs software application development support, database development and administration, software quality management, and enterprise application consulting.
We are seeking a talented Oracle APEX Software developer to design, develop, and maintain web applications using Oracle Application Express (APEX). The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Oracle databases and experience creating intuitive, scalable, and secure applications.
This position will be filled at the Software Developer 3/4 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate.Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Software Developer 3 ($101,700 - $168,200)
As a Software Developer 3 , you will be developing and implementing new functionality in support of modernizing essential applications.
- Executing the full Software Development Life Cycle (Planning, Requirements, Design, Development, Testing, Deployment, and M&O).
- Utilizing Oracle database architecture for table design, package and trigger creation, and Oracle APEX, including interactive reports, grids, collections, graphs, dashboards, and PDF report generation.
- Managing code repositories and software deployment using Git.
- Collaborating with customers, product owners, and end users to understand and address business needs.
- Ensuring system performance, including availability, reliability, security, recoverability, and code efficiency.
- Handling data processing, loading, automation improvements, integrity, and presentation.
- Implementing APEX security features such as authentication and authorization schemes.

- You'll use your expert-level skills to architect state-of-the art solutions and come up with creative, innovate ideas.
- Lead project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Monitor project progress, manage risks, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Act as a liaison between stakeholders, clients, and development team.
- Self-managing your work which involves taking proactive control over your tasks, priorities, and time while ensuring alignment with team and organizational goals and funding.
- Mentor junior developers and promote culture of continuous improvement.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Experience developing and maintaining Oracle APEX applications using version 20 or newer.
- Experience developing and maintaining PL/SQL packages.
- Experience creating and maintaining Oracle database schema objects, such as tables with efficient indexing and proper constraints.
- Experience using RESTful services, JSON, JavaScript, and Oracle built-in packages.
- Experience with automated software testing methodologies, preferably Cypress.io.
- Experience with software version control (Git/GitLab), build automation tools (e.g. Gradle), and/or CI/CD.
- Experience mentoring junior developers.
- Advanced experience selecting tools and technology stacks to meet customer requirements.
- Experience managing or leading large complex projects.
- Experience with researching new technologies and tools, incorporate their usage into new products and services.
- Experience as a technical leader for projects and teams.
Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 12 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be expected.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with Agile (Scrum) mythologies.
- Experience managing or leading large complex projects.
- Experience customizing JIRA/Confluence sites for the application lifecycle management, especially in DevOps.
- Experience upgrading, supporting, extending, and enhancing Commercial off the Shelf Products (COTS) or Cloud applications.
Work Location: The work location for this position has the potential for remote work. Remote work is defined as working offsite that is greater than 2 hours of the Laboratory location. Reportingonsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations areat the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Clearance:Q (Position will be cleared to this level). New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Incentive Compensation Program: At the higher level, this position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in aneligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligibleposition as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
