Position Information:
Under the general direction of the CHASS Contracts and Grants Unit Supervisor, manage and coordinate complex fiscal budgeting and administration to ensure CHASS departments maintain integrity and internal controls. Serve the CHASS Contracts and Grants team by performing advanced budget and resource analyses, as well as conducting internal fund audits using robust analytical tools. Responsibilities include tracking and reconciling expenses for extramural and other funding sources, maintaining strong internal controls, and adapting to evolving needs for financial reports and ad hoc information for Principal Investigators, department Chairpersons, and administrative staff. Prepare agency-specific, multi-year budgets and facilitate the submission of contract and grant proposals to various federal and non-federal agencies. Additionally, assist with training departmental staff on Contracts and Grants procedures, providing guidance to resolve issues and manage funds more effectively.
This position is eligible for a hybrid remote work schedule.
The full salary range for the Contracts & Grants Analyst 2 is $33.11 - $48.39 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Review submission requirements and assemble all elements of the grant proposal, ensuring compliance with guidelines and policies. Interpret and apply procedural compliance standards for multi-fund sources, including but not limited to NIH, NSF, NEH, William T. Grant Foundation, Mellon Foundation, Spencer Foundation, John Templeton Foundation, UCOP MRPI, and other UC Research Programs. Obtain necessary signatures and submit completed grant proposals to the Campus Research Office in a timely manner to meet compliance standards and agency deadlines.
Manage and process research grants within the department, serving as a resource for issues related to new proposals, competing and non-competing renewals, re-budgeting, cost transfers, no-cost extensions, and continuation activities. Maintain accurate documentation for all related actions.
Oversee fiscal management of annual income allocations from granting agencies. In coordination with PIs, ensure all expenditures align with agency-specific guidelines, University of California Policies and Procedures, and Business and Finance Bulletins. Track expenses by maintaining running ledgers, projecting costs across subcategories, and reconciling expenditures to ensure accuracy.
Utilize the campus ledger system to compare expenditures with source documents, verify past adjustments, and prepare corrections as needed. Research and evaluate payment items specific to each grant, ensuring financial integrity and compliance throughout the grant lifecycle.
Oversees the organization, planning, and fiscal budget control of contracts, grants, and privately funded projects for faculty research programs. Manages and coordinates departmental budgets and accounting functions, including the preparation of financial activity trend and budget projection reports, while ensuring fiscal integrity and compliance.
Additionally, assists with the monthly ledger reconciliation process to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
