Position Information:
The Director of Marketing and Communications for Current Student Engagement is a strategic leadership role within UCR's Enrollment Services division. The Director will oversee, and direct projects focused on enhancing communication and engagement with current students. The Director is responsible for developing and executing strategic communication and marketing initiatives that enhance the overall administrative journey required of current students to navigate while at UCR. This role focuses on creating and maintaining effective communication channels that support various aspects of financial aid, scholarships, registration and related processes, course articulation, summer sessions, and the Highlander One Stop Shop. The Director will ensure that all communication efforts are coordinated with other areas of campus such as VPDUE, VCSA, HWS as well as are aligned with the strategic priorities of Enrollment Services to ensure cohesive and impactful messaging that supports student success, retention, and satisfaction ultimately contributing to a positive and supportive environment for UCR students.
The salary range for this position is $100,100 - $190,500 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $100,100 - $122,700 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Experience working in a large, public research university
Experience in brand management and creative direction within a higher education context.
Strong market research, analytical, and problem recognition / avoidance / resolution skills.
Strong knowledge of the location, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices and infrastructure, and a strong knowledge of current affairs, issues in higher education and/or health sciences, and/or specialized subject matter.

- Design and execute a comprehensive and integrated communications plan that highlights and supports the services provided by Enrollment Services departments. Ensure messaging to current students is clear, consistent, and impactful. Oversee the creation and distribution of content across diverse platforms, such as email, social media, websites, and print materials, to maximize student engagement and outreach. Collaborate with Enrollment Services department heads to align communication efforts with departmental goals and university objectives.
- PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Lead and manage multiple communication projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with strategic goals. Implement best practices in project management, including regular progress reports, stakeholder updates, and post project evaluations
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of two communications specialists, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Supervise, develop, and evaluate the performance of the marketing and communications team. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development by providing training opportunities, setting clear performance goals, and offering constructive feedback. Manage the recruitment and onboarding of new staff members as needed, ensuring that the team is equipped with teh skills and expertise necessary to execute the communications strategy effectively. Promote a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages innovation, creativity, and the sharing of best practices.
- Utilize data-driven insignts to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and adjust plans as necessary to improve engagement and outcomes. Conduct ongoing market research to understand the needs, preferences, and behaviors of current students, ensuring that communication strategies are responsive to their evolving expectations. Analyze student engagement data, survey results, and other feedback mechansims to evalute the impact of communication initatiaves and identify areas for improvement. Benchmark UCR's communications efforts against peer institutions and industry standards, recommending and implementing bst practices to enhance student engagement. Prepare and present regular reports on teh effectiveness of marketing and communication activities, including metrics on reach, engagement, and impact, to inform decision-making and strategy adjustments. Responsible for the management of the general catalog.
- Develop, manage, and oversee the marketing and communications budget for current student engagement, ensuring that all initiatives are cost-effective and align with the strategic priorities of Enrollment Services. Identify and allocate resources effectively to maximize the impact of communication strategies within the available budget. Work with the Associate Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Services to forecast budget needs and secure funding for new initiatives that enhance student engagement. Monitor expenditures and provide regular financial reports to leadership, ensuring transparency and accountability in budget management.
- Ensure that all communications adhere to UCR's brand guidelines and effectively convey the university's values and commitment to student success. Provide creative direction for marketing and communication materials, working with designers, writers, and other content creators to produce high quality, engaging content
and communication.
