Assistant Professor: Cybersecurity and Privacy Job No: 545515 Work Type: Locations: San Diego Categories: Unit 3 - CFA - California Faculty Association, Tenured/Tenure-Track, Full Time, Faculty - Computer Science Description The San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the broad area of Cybersecurity and Privacy, with an expected start in August 2025. The Assistant Professor will be a member of the newly formed, interdisciplinary Cybersecurity Research and Education Center (CCRE; https://cyber.sdsu.edu ), with an academic appointment in either the Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Management Information Science department. Qualifications Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Information Science, or a closely related field. Successful applicants are expected to contribute to the scholarship of the center, department and university through externally funded research and through teaching and mentoring of BS, MS, and PhD students, as well as participate in departmental governance and university service. Candidates are encouraged to elaborate on the interdisciplinary nature of their cybersecurity research and education, as well as how they can contribute to the CCRE's overall mission and vision. We are seeking applicants with demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups. Candidates must satisfy two or more of the eight Building on Inclusive Excellence (BIE) criteria. Candidates that meet BIE criteria: (a) are committed to engaging in service with underrepresented populations within the discipline, (b) have demonstrated knowledge of barriers for underrepresented students and faculty within the discipline, (c) have experience or have demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring underrepresented students, (d) have experience or have demonstrated commitment to integrating understanding of underrepresented populations and communities into research, (e) have experience in or have demonstrated commitment to extending knowledge of opportunities and challenges in achieving artistic/scholarly success to members of an underrepresented group, (f) have experience in or have demonstrated commitment to research that engages underrepresented communities, (g) have expertise or demonstrated commitment to developing expertise in cross-cultural communication and collaboration, and/or (h) have research interests that contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education.
