Assistant Director, Licensing and New Ventures - Office of Technology Commercialization Georgetown University comprises two unique campuses in the nation's capital. Requirements The Assistant Director of Licensing and New Ventures manages a complex intellectual property portfolio of active cases, primarily in the life and medical sciences but also including computer sciences, physics, chemistry and other disciplines across the University. This position will contribute to the strategic development of intellectual property matters within the Office of Technology Commercialization. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Contribute to the strategic development of research partnerships to enable growth and advancement of the GU research enterprise. Develop relationships and services at Georgetown to grow new ventures and startups. As delegated by the Vice President of Technology Commercialization, assume management responsibility within the Office of Technology Commercialization including without limitation the supervision of interns and development of a robust internship/fellowship program within OTC. Work Interactions The Assistant Director of Licensing and New Ventures reports directly to the VP for Technology Commercialization. The Assistant Director of Licensing and New Ventures will assume supervisory responsibility for OTC personnel as delegated by the VP and will contribute to training of office and University personnel and faculty in intellectual property and licensing matters. Requirements and Qualifications Master's degree in life sciences, or physical sciences with strong life science background required; Advance degree preferred Strong background in biotechnology, medical and life sciences At least 5 years demonstrated strength in negotiation of complex license agreements and managing patent portfolios At least 2 years in an academic, federal or not-for-profit setting Work Mode Designation This position has been designated as Hybrid . Pay Range: The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $66,783.00 - $126,720.23 Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
