Job Summary:
SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Student Employment. The Assistant Director of Student Employment is responsible for overseeing the hiring and onboarding processes for all student employees (approximately 1,000 per year), as well as and supporting and developing campus-wide best-practices in student employee supervision. Working in collaboration with stakeholders across campus, the Assistant Director of Student Employment supports the development of on and off-campus employment opportunities, both Federal Work Study and local campus partnerships. This position will also work closely with the Career Design Center team to maintain, oversee, and administer the hiring processes for on campus student wage and Federal Work Study (FWS) and off-campus FWS employees, and to ensure employee data integrity and accuracy, as well as compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This includes the management of all I-9 processing and tax form distribution, and requires close partnership with HR, Financial Aid and Global Education offices. This position provides support to department supervisors and employees regarding student employment practices, processes, and employment related issues.

Additionally, the Assistant Director of Student Employment will have an essential role in establishing Student Employment as a High Impact Practice. This will include the development of a cohort-based off-campus Federal Work Study program that includes professional development opportunities and group processing and reflection, thus implementing best-practices of Experiential Learning. This serves to support the overall expansion of Experiential Learning on campus and provide an opportunity for all students to engage in this HIP through student employment.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in an appropriate field
  • Experience working with student employees in a professional capacity on a college or university campus.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in higher education administration, human resources, or similar field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Familiarity with student employment hiring processes including payroll and HR processes.
  • Familiarity with experiential learning or community-engaged programs.
  • Strong project management and follow-up skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm
Salary and Benefits: Minimum starting salary - $62,840
