The Transplant Billing and Follow-up representative who reports to the manager of Transplant PFS Team. Primary responsibilities include specialized bundle billing (UB04 and CMS 1500), donor services billing and assertive account follow-up with all transplant payers. Other responsibilities include identifying transplant recipient and donor relationships/encounters and monitoring pre/post and transplant event cases and calculating/reconciling case rate agreements. Managing both physician and hospital EPIC claim inventory in various work queue types. The representative must also be able to understand internal and external (i.e. payer) transplant and organ acquisition requirements throughout the revenue cycle (i.e. not only billing and payment guidelines). Additionally, this position supports all other departments for any transplant related inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Several years of recent, advanced and demonstrated billing and collections experience in a health care environment.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting various managed care contracts and government payer regulations to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of the contract and/or regulations.
  • Thorough understanding of all CMS1500 UB04 field requirements.
  • Detail oriented, with demonstrated organizational skills and the skill to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, set schedules, and complete projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Proficiency in common database, spreadsheet and presentation software (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide whole and decimal numbers, using a calculator.
  • Experience in typing with speed and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skill to work effectively with internal and external staff in a wide variety of business and clinical areas.
  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills to documents and reports clearly and concisely; conveys instructions, directions, and information appropriately.
  • Experience and skill to manage heavy workload with frequently changing priorities and tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hospital and professional specialty transplant billing and follow-up experience.
  • Academic Institution or large integrated health system experience.

Department Overview

Patient Financial Services (PFS) manages revenue cycle functions including DNFB, billing, contract management, insurance follow-up, charge audit, denials, underpayments as well as internal operational and functional reporting and support related to hospital/facility billing. PFS ensures account information contains accurate and comprehensive data to provide timely billing and optimal reimbursement for services rendered. PFS impacts processes to include charge capture, coding, insurance identification, data/charge entry, registration, authorizations, billing, payment posting, refund processing and collections.
