Amentum is seeking a Mid level Model Based Systems Engineer to join our engineering team in Dahlgren, VA.

Senior Systems Engineer Responsibilities Include:

  • Advising the Government by researching new concepts and technologies and developing new Fleet capabilities. Help design, review and contribute to the Navy's new system.
  • Participating primarily in the development of descriptive models using MagicDraw/ Cameo / SysML.
  • Performing systems engineering to advise SSP on the design and development of the replacement missile as well as the supporting software and systems.
  • Collaborating with teams across A10 and A20 Divisions
  • Executing using Agile principles with a Kanban board.
  • Provides model-based systems engineering (MBSE) support for clients' development as part of enterprise architecture.
  • Develops and coordinates MBSE architecture model and initiatives that support clients.
  • Collaborates with clients' engineers to capture system behavior and structure; reviews and analyzes system requirements, behaviors, and structures; identifies integration issues, system requirement discrepancies, and impacts to appropriate requirements and/or design specifications across multiple systems; and recommends potential enhancements to the system.
  • Advising the Government by researching new concepts and technologies and developing new Fleet capabilities.
  • Help design, review, and contribute to the Navy's new system.
  • Performing analysis and problem-solving techniques necessary to execute professional scientific/engineering work
  • Provide a thorough understanding of SysML diagrams and DoDAF diagrams, and familiarity with Unified Architecture Framework (UAF)
  • Manage and maintain configuration control of all approved models, simulation, and analysis products and all versioning thereafter

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, or four (4) years of a demonstrated knowledge base and subject matter expertise relevant to specific technical disciplines of the SOW, including the qualifications below; or US Naval operational experience at the E7 level or higher.
  • Six (6) years of engineering experience with a DoD major weapon, combat, and/or fire control systems program.
  • Experience with modeling software to include MagicDraw / Cameo / SysML
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance (at a minimum, must receive/be approved for an interim Secret security clearance in order to start) Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.
  • Experience in concept definition, DoDAF compliant architecture development, requirements definition, and initial and detailed system design activities. Systems engineering experience focused on requirements development and management of software systems. This includes experience related to the identification, analysis, and documentation of complex systems involving DOD weapon, combat, and/or fire control systems.
  • Two (2) years of concurrent experience with Navy surface or submarine shipboard weapons, combat, and/or fire control systems to include current Navy programs such as SLBM and Aegis. One Engineer/Analyst experienced with engineering tools such as DOORS, Change Synergy, and System Architect.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral
  • Demonstrated ability to perform analysis and problem solving techniques necessary to execute professional scientific/engineering work
  • Ability to work independently and with others within established teams, across organizations, to meet established goals within schedule driven timelines

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with Naval Weapons System Development and Deployment
  • Experience working with managing software/hardware developments for major weapons system.
