Position Title: University Health Promotion Specialist Job Group: Professional & Scientific Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree and 3 years of related experience Preferred Qualifications: Masters or higher in related field. Experience in planning, implementing, and assessing health promotion programs. Experience or demonstrated ability to collect and manage data to evaluate outcomes and inform decision making. Experience facilitating workshops, trainings, and presentations, including on virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Canvas). Experience or demonstrated ability to recruit, engage, and lead collaborative teams. Experience or demonstrated ability to coordinate training programs, including people and resources. Experience with supervision of employees. Job Description: The University Health Promotion Specialist in Student Wellness at Iowa State University will use a collaborative approach to lead initiatives to enhance student mental health and well-being across the university Key responsibilities include: Driving the development, implementation, and evaluation of outreach initiatives based on the JED Campus action plan. Managing strategic implementation of evidence-based mental health promotion and suicide prevention strategies, including increasing help-seeking behaviors, fostering social connections, and promoting life skills. Collaborating with Student Counseling Services to plan, implement, and evaluate suicide prevention programming, training, and outreach. Coordinating and facilitating mental health training and education programs, including skill-building initiatives and online training. Leading campus-wide mental health training and outreach teams by engaging partners across academic and student affairs. Overseeing campus engagement and outreach for Therapy Assistance Online (TAO) and embedding mental health resources into existing campus programs. Supervising and developing student employees, including hiring, training, and providing professional development opportunities. Supporting additional health promotion programs and initiatives related to substance use, violence prevention, and basic needs. Ensuring compliance with data confidentiality and safety standards, including FERPA, HIPAA, and university policies. Level Guidelines: Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity Provides guidance to students The department is not able to consider non-U.S. citizen candidates who require employer sponsorship.
