Internal Job Number: P05119CT Description: This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Temporary Biological Sciences Research Technician 2 position for the Forest Ecosystem & Society at Oregon State University ( OSU ). This position will conduct temporary work for key long-term avian research programs. The position will involve a mix of field and office work and will be based in the Oregon Coast Range (with accommodations at Carlton, Oregon). This person will provide lead work for two other field techs from May-August 2025. Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty): Two years of college-level courses in (specific field of biological science) and one year of experience related to the area of assignment at the Biological Research Technician 1 level; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Requirements : Two years of college-level courses in a field of biological science and one year of experience related to the area of assignment at the Biological Research Technician 1 level; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to contribute to an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming workplace environment for individuals with a range of different backgrounds, identities, perspectives, and/or life experiences. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030. Type: The work schedule will average 40 hours per week but may include some workdays that are more than 8 hours. Duties will be interspersed, with fieldwork occurring on specific days and data entry (as dictated by need and staff schedules). Office work will require sitting at a computer for prolonged periods and repetitive motions. Field work will require the ability to hike on and off trail on steep terrain in inclement weather and moderate to strenuous physical work such as hauling, lifting, pulling and carrying weights up to 40 pounds per person.
