As an Advanced Coatings Design Engineer here at Honeywell, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and design of advanced coatings for aerospace applications. You will be responsible for conducting research, analyzing data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop innovative coating solutions. Your expertise and attention to detail will play a crucial role in enhancing the performance, durability, and efficiency of our aerospace products.
In this role, you will be able to imagine, design and develop high temperature coating systems for gas turbine engines as part of a highly engaged and integrated engineering team. You will participate in all phases of product development and will be part of a group of talented professionals to ensure the success of our engineering projects and programs. You will collaborate across Honeywell Aerospace engineering teams to create next generation coating solutions to meet the evolving needs of our customers.

You will report directly to our Coatings and Additive Design Engineering Managerand youll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a hybrid work schedule. Note: For the first 90 days, New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite M-F.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct research and analysis to develop innovative coating solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and optimize coating processes
- Perform testing and evaluation of coatings to ensure performance and durability
- Analyze data and provide technical recommendations for improvement
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in coating technologies
- Travel up to 10% US

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS
Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.
YOU MUST HAVE
- 1+ years experience with ceramicdeposition techniques including electron beam physical vapor deposition (EB-PVD) and/or air plasma spray (APS)
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
WE VALUE
- PhD in Material Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry or Physics; Masters or Bachelors of Science in Material Science, Metallurgy, or Mechanical Engineering
- 1+ years experience with high temperature oxidation or deposit-induced corrosion
- 3+ years of Aerospace or Industrial Gas Turbines experience
- Basic understanding of mechanics including - Fracture Mechanics
- Basic understanding of phase equilibria and phase transformations in metallic and ceramic systems
- Capable of gathering, curating and integrating technical information from a wide variety of sources
- Experience in research and development methodologies including hypothesis testing and evidence-based innovation
- Clear, accurate and abundantly thorough report writing - which will be used to drive investment decisions
- Capable of liaising with manufacturing, testing and laboratory staff, suppliers, customers and stakeholder
- Consistently makes timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness
