Refrigeration Mechanic Job Summary Perform repair calibrations, major overhauls and corrective maintenance on all refrigeration equipment, air conditioning systems, heat pumps, gas fired heaters, electric heat, computer and server room air conditioning units, fume hoods, exhaust fans, supply air blowers throughout the Medical Center. You will perform preventative maintenance procedures and ensure a prompt response to requests for repairs. At journeyman level experience that includes analysis of control, electrical, plumbing, and refrigerant cycle malfunction to provide dependability and optimal performance of the campus refrigeration systems. Refrigeration Mechanic will work in cooperation with other skilled crafts mechanics to ensure all specification, legislation and policies are met, and to ensure efficient completion of projects. Provide adequate services ensuring acceptable ventilation and indoor air quality standards. Apply By Date: 2/5/2025 at 11:59 pm - Interviews and recruiting process may occur at any time Minimum Qualifications Environmental Protection Agency Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Type I, II, III, or Universal Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license. Applicant possesses a certificate of completion from a recognized union apprenticeship program, University apprenticeship program, accredited trade school or have the equivalent amount of experience evaluated by a Credentials Committee of Facilities Services Senior Superintendents and Senior Engineers to determine journey level status. At least 5 years experience in HVAC and refrigeration (air handlers, supply fans, exhaust fans duct work, fittings, grilles, diffusers, louvers, fume hoods, and bio-hoods). Must have proficient knowledge and skills in the following areas: Voltmeter, amp meter, ohmmeter, gas-trac, thermal-anemometer air velocity meter, I.R,D., balance tester, thermometer hygrothermograph, P.H. meter, salinity test equipment, sound level meter, T.D.S. meter, chlorine test kits. 'B' and 'C' mix tester. Knowledge of building codes regarding installation of Ventilation and refrigeration systems. Knowledge of practices and procedures of the Ventilation trade and related practices. Knowledge of approved safety devises and practices. Ability to analyze and interpret technical data and mechanical and structural specifications and blueprints. Ability and knowledge of the proper use and operational characteristics of maintenance equipment and tools. Preferred Qualifications Analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrate basic computer skills. Plant Operations & Maintenance is one of the largest operations and maintenance support providers to clinical, administrative, research, SOM and SON departments throughout the Health System. UC Davis Health is one of several UC campuses that have their own cogeneration, central power plants. Cogeneration (Combined Heat and Power or CHP) is the simultaneous production of electricity and heat, both of which are used throughout the Medical Center Campus and is supported by Plant Operations & Maintenance 24x7x365.
