Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Technical Director to join our team in Abu Dhabi! In this role you will get to provide technical leadership and direction for every phase of a large infrastructure program, consisting of multiple wastewater pumping stations.

 We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Technical / Design Director to implement solutions to some of the most complex challenges for this program, who has proven experience of leading successful wastewater projects in the GCC and Internationally, particularly in urban settings. Experience with climate resilience and sustainable infrastructure projects is highly desirable.

The Technical / Design Director will provide guidance and clear direction to the program team, even when faced with the most nuanced of obstacles. We are targeting accomplished industry experts; in possession of a collaborative attitude and proven leadership capability. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership skills and extensive experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provide overall technical leadership and direction for all aspects in restoring and commissioning of the  wastewater pumping station. Develop and implement the strategy for design, construction and operation of the wastewater pumping station, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives. 

  • Ensure that all works in wastewater pumping station meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance. 

  • Prepare a condition assessment report of the wastewater pumping station.  

  • Review and approve all wastewater pumping station’s designs, ensuring compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements. Coordinate with design and engineering teams to address any technical challenges or issues that arise. Ensure that all wastewater pumping station’s designs incorporate best practices and innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes. 

  • Providing technical expertise and guidance on all design methodologies, collaborating with the relevant engineering teams to ensure that plans result in a structurally sound outcome. 

  • Oversee the work of EPC contractors, ensuring that all wastewater pumping station’s activities are executed to the highest standards of quality and safety. Address and resolve any construction-related issues or challenges that arise. 

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all wastewater pumping station ‘s -related stakeholders, including government authorities, contractors, and community representatives. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure their support and cooperation throughout the project lifecycle. 

  • Managing workforce to ensure efficiency is maximized and set schedules are maintained within budget. Taking preventative action when required to ensure that critical milestones on project are met. 

  • Ensuring the use of sound design and construction practices to safeguard quality control across the complete scope of work. 

  • Proactive leadership and management of the relevant stakeholders to the design department. 

  • Managing department budgets, procurement strategies and cashflow.   

  • Preparing and presenting periodic reports to summarize design/construction activity progress for senior internal management in addition to external stakeholders. 

  • Mentoring and leading employees fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation.   

  • Oversee the integration and management of all systems within the wastewater treatment plant to ensure optimal performance and reliability. 

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelors Engineering degree in related industry with 20+ years of experience in the wastewater field. A minimum 5 years of experience within a role of similar seniority. 

  • Extensive experience with the EPC contracts, design and construction of wastewater pumping station. 

  • In-depth knowledge of hydraulic systems, pump selection, and performance optimization. 

  • Familiarity with electrical and control systems for pumping stations, including SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.

  • Experience with sustainable infrastructure projects and climate resilience initiatives is highly desirable.


What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Effective oral and written skills for client presentations, technical reporting, and internal/external correspondence 

  • Ability to effectively present information to key stakeholders as required by the client 

  • Significant experience in PMC projects. 

  • Understanding of the PMC, construction and design delivery process and the functions inherent to construction management of large-scaled projects 

  • Understanding of budget development and cost accounting 

  • Ability to manage and encourage a team of design and construction management professionals 

  • Ability to interface with all levels with project team, client, and others 

  • Knowledge of construction contract negotiation and administration 

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents 

  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints 

  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of support function problems 

  • Ability to function in a multi-organizational environment by developing relationships that complies with the client’s proactive, collaborative culture. 

  • Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are required 

  • Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology in implementing an effective integrated digital platform tool to centralize all documents and online approval workflows.
