Position Title: Student Employment Administrator School/Division: Human Resources (division) Office: Office of Student Employment Full Time/Part Time: Full-Time Description: Reporting to the Senior Director of HR Systems and Operations, the Student Employment Administrator at Hofstra University serves as the primary liaison between students, departments, and the university's employment program. This role is responsible for overseeing the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of student employees while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. The Student Employment Administrator provides guidance to supervisors and students, manages payroll processes, and fosters a supportive work environment for student employees to thrive academically and professionally. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversees the administration of the student employment program, including federal work-study, non-work-study positions, graduate assistantships, and stipend pay. Serves as the primary point of contact for student employment inquiries. Collaborates with on-campus student employment supervisors on developing, posting, and marketing student employment opportunities. Guides students in securing on-campus employment opportunities that align with their skills and career aspirations. Provides training and resources for supervisors to effectively manage student employees. Develops and implements policies and procedures to streamline hiring and employment processes, including the completion of new hire paperwork and entering all student employment positions and accompanying data into the HRIS system. Ensures compliance with federal and state labor laws, including Fair Labor Standards Act ( FLSA ) and Title IX requirements. Develops and maintains a student employment website, handbook, and/or other educational resources for supervisors and students about the student employment system. Manages and monitors student eligibility for work-study programs, including job placement, community service opportunities, and monitoring student award amounts in collaboration with the Offices of Student Financial Services and Finance. Prepares and analyzes reports on student employment trends, wages, and work-study fund utilization. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of 1-2 years of related work experience, preferably within payroll or HRIS processing. Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy in a deadline-driven environment. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Comfortable using technology to improve process efficiency. Ability to work occasional nights and weekends to support student events. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of basic state and federal employment laws preferred. Knowledge of federal work-study policies, procedures, and regulations. Experience working in higher education. Demonstrated experience in managing budgets and fiscal responsibilities. Experience cultivating relationships and communicating effectively, orally and in writing, with a broad range of constituencies. Prior experience working with an HRIS , preferably Ellucian Banner.
