The Opportunity -

Boeing is taking another bold step in aerospace and advanced manufacturing. MQ28 is the first military aircraft to be designed, engineered and manufactured in Australia in more than 50 years. This unmanned teaming aircraft is Boeing's first military aircraft to be designed and developed outside the U.S and uses artificial intelligence to extend the capabilities of manned and unmanned platforms. This cutting-edge project is aiming to unlock global defence and aerospace opportunities for Boeing and Queensland.

The Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bat is a globally-significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities. As we continue to accelerate the development program, and expand the aircraft flight envelope through the test program, we are seeking the very best talent from a diverse range of backgrounds to help grow and contribute to our innovative team.

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) are looking for a SeniorProject Engineer to join our team supporting the cutting edge MQ-28 Ghost Bat program. As a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer you will apply your extensive Project Engineering knowledge and leadership ability to support a multidisciplinary team through the full lifecycle of an establishment of manufacturing capability either internally in Boeing or within the Australian supply base. We are looking for someone who will embrace our company's behaviours and is willing to innovate.

This role is based in Brisbane.

As a SeniorProject Engineer within BDA, you will

  • Lead the establishment of part manufacturing/fabrication/finishing capabilities for the MQ-28 platform either internally in Boeing facilities and or support the establishment of that capability or product in the Australian supply chain;
  • Ensuring program integration of all aspects being undertaken in support of the production capability development.
  • Ensure that engineering and technical requirements are adequately understood and communicating status on project deliverables.
  • Lead a cross functional team to deliver the required business objectives.
  • Providing leadership through the Boeing change management processes to support business/project decisions for each of the individual capabilities
  • Support the Australian supply base through the Boeing qualification process.
  • Implement Lean principles and technologies.
  • Ensure compliance to safety, regulatory and engineering requirements.


About you

To be successful in this role, you will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and have:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering; specialising in Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering will be highly regarded.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing is preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles and practices is highly desirable.
  • Experience in managing complex projects to successful and timely completion.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to exert influence at multiple organisational levels
  • High level communication and negotiation skills with a strong focus on building successful relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
