Requisition Number: F_250001 Department: Mechanical & Materials Engineering-1067 Description of Work: The Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln ( https://mme.unl.edu ) invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Practice in industrial engineering. The successful candidate will develop industrial engineering courses to be taught by the Department to enhance expertise in manufacturing and industrial process and address Nebraska workforce needs. This effort will equip graduates with the tools to succeed in the field. The program will nurture creativity and innovation through a unique blend of coursework, interdisciplinary projects, and experiential learning, creating graduates who will impact Nebraska's economy and beyond. Nebraska's need for industrial engineers is pressing, as job opportunities are expected to grow by almost 16% in the next decade according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics' occupational outlook. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute in multiple industrial engineering sub-disciplines, such as ergonomics, operations research, data analytics, and manufacturing. The Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln currently administers one B.S. program in mechanical engineering, with approximately 700 students, and has 33 tenure-line faculty and two professors of practice. The University has invested extensively in the College of Engineering, with two new buildings, including Kiewit Hall, a spacious 200,000 square foot state-of-the-art learning center with advanced teaching environments for classroom, laboratory, and design instruction. We provide extensive support for teaching through the Engineering and Computer Education Core ( ECEC ) ( https://coe.unl.edu/ecec ), including curricular design and evidence-based teaching tool development. Faculty are encouraged to pursue scholarly activities related to engineering teaching and learning. The College of Engineering is home to the Complete Engineer which develops students' professional skills in six key areas in addition to technical excellence in the chosen discipline ( https://engineering.unl.edu/complete-engineer/ ).
