Serves as the main custodial representative for evening shift at National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland Location. Scheduled Work hours: 2pm -10:30pm. Coordinates with Project Manager, Custodial Supervisors for all night shift custodial operations.
Responsibilities
- Acts independently through a working schedule of building reviews to monitor the level of janitorial and custodial services provided to the client.
- Responsible for daily oversight of the quality assurance program as it relates to all services required under the contract.
- Initiates, revises and maintains quality documentation, procedures, manuals and specifications.
- Performs quality control inspections on a daily basis using a mix of: one hundred (100%) percent inspection, random sampling and periodic evaluation.
- Ensures all Acceptable Quality Levels are being met as outlined in the contract’s “Required Performance Metrics Table”
- Creates reports and work tickets to be distributed internally as well as to the customer through “Otuvey” Software System
- Follows up on and re-inspects unacceptable inspection results
- Ensures all deliverables required per the contract are created, maintained and submitted prior to deadline.
- Maintains working business relationships with customer(s).
- Schedules and chairs regularly occurring meetings with contractor’s personnel and customer(s).
- Oversees and performs OSHA compliance and inspections. Creates reports and deliverables as necessary.

- Schedule, coordinate and perform (as necessary) trainings for onsite personnel as it relates to all functions of companies training program (e.g.- OSHA, Safety, security, policies and procedures, technical trainings)
- Assist the Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager, Custodial with administrative functions.
- Supervises site efforts to develop and improve operations through efficient and effective integrated processes, common management processes/services to leverage organization resources.
- Reviews, analyzes, and prepares reports, records, and directives, and confers with managers to obtain data required for planning activities.
- Supervises operations review of cost and service structures, productivity measures and delivery methods to achieve planned targets.
- Develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
- Leads and directs the work of other employees.
- Supervisors typically have authority for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions of subordinate employees.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible quality management experience
- Must have a minimum of one (5) years of custodial experience
- Must have experience in LEED certified facilities
- Must have a minimum of one (3) years’ experience working within government facilities
- Must have knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and chemical handling/storage procedures.
- Must have intermediate or greater proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office suite.
- Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have the ability to work independently without direct supervision
- Must have reliable transportation to perform daily site visits at various VA locations.
- Core business hours are 2:00pm-10:30pm; however, due to the nature of this position we require a candidate that can adjust their work schedule to ensure night shift employees receive the leadership required. Work hour flexibility is needed based on business needs and customer expectations.
- Must have Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) skills.
- Reports to work each day and on time.
- Completes tasks in an efficient manner.
- Must comply with proper safety policies and procedures as required (i.e. when using cleaning chemicals, reporting incidents, etc.).
- Provides excellent level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
