Maintenance Technician-Mechanical - Military Veterans

RESPONSIBILITIES
Summary: Howmet Structure Systems has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician located at our Niles Facility. This position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance operation and preventative maintenance of manufacturing equipment within the plant.
Primary Function:
Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of the building does not deteriorate:
Working Procedures
- Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
- Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance technicians to diagnose the problem or repair the machine
- Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery
- Record maintenance and repair work performed and the costs of the work
- Troubleshoot and repair various aspects of production machinery, including saws, hydraulic presses and associated forging equipment:.
- Repair and replace mechanical components and assemblies, including install of forging dies and fixtures, bearing assemblies, chains, belts and sliding component wear plates
- Plan and lay out repair work using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic diagrams
- Align and balance new equipment after installations
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments
- Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
- Operate overhead cranes and hoists, forklifts, scissor, and boom lifts
- Maintain a safe and organized workstation and follow all Company policies, safety, and procedures
- The combined rate of pay for this position is $33.74. This includes a base pay rate of $28.74 and $5 flat rate incentive per hour.

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have completed a recognized, appropriate Maintenance Mechanical Multi-craft apprenticeship or have at least eight (8) years of relevant on-the-job experience, to include industrial fabrication and maintenance weld or completed two (2) years of secondary vocational school and four (4) years of relevant on-the-job experience
- High school diploma or GED is required
- 3-5 years of experience
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Must be able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- The position requires an individual to stand, climb, work at heights, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time. PPE includes FR9 clothing, safety glasses, hard hat, and steel toed boots with metatarsal protection, hearing protection and other safety equipment as required.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
