Data Analyst - Military Veterans

Are you passionate about leveraging data to drive operational excellence and strategic decision-making? We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused data analyst to investigate our business intelligence architecture and join the Strategy, Performance, and Risk (SPR) Division within the Office of the Director. In this role, you will serve as a key partner to system owners, subject matter experts, and senior management, ensuring effective collaboration and innovative solutions to meet critical data reporting and business intelligence needs.

As a vital contributor, you will work closely with Business and Information Services (BIS) and Financial Management and Procurement Services (FMPS) enterprise architects and engineers to develop cutting-edge data models and process automation. By aligning with organizational goals, your efforts will help drive continuous improvement and deliver impactful insights that shape the future of our institution.

Responsibilities include:

  • Functions as a Data and Process Analyst for various business systems at Argonne
  • Develop solutions to meet the business reporting and visualization needs of the SPR division and the Office of the Director using data from laboratory business applications
  • Continually evaluates data and data visualization needs and issues as they arise, either through review of the applications or through feedback from users
  • Creates and refines data models, business intelligence dashboards, and other data visualizations and uses those tools to solve data-related problems and to answer strategic questions
  • Harvests data from multiple sources internal and external to Argonne and integrates the data for performance modeling
  • Builds advanced data analytics dashboards that leverage predictive analytics components
  • Resolves issues related to data reporting as they arise
  • Provides or assists in creating output from the dashboards and analysis for executive level presentations


Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience working with data and analytics OR Master's degree and 2+ years of experience working with data and analytics
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, and Excel
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI
  • Applied knowledge of relational databases and similar operations software systems.
  • Demonstrated competence in data modeling and data warehousing concepts
  • Experience working with large datasets and apply data mining techniques
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interface with various division personnel pertaining to information and control systems
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other team members.

The expected hiring range for this position is $83,264.00 - $131,343.03.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
