POSITION SUMMARY:
The Technical Documentation Engineer 1 serves an essential role in generating and managing the technical specifications and manufacturing steps required in the production of state-of-the-art patient simulators. This includes preparing CAD documents (2D and 3D), BOMS, and costings, that are maintained in an electronic document control system.
Using time-management skills, the documentation engineer delivers scheduled projects, tasks, or activities. The Engineer takes appropriate action to resolve problems and fully document those using 3D models and 2D schematics of the electro-mechanical systems. This position will liaise between various departments to create and deliver documentation, schematics, manufacturing procedures, and process flow requirements to the production floor to certify the production process, thereby ensuring superior quality and product repeatability. Team members play a vital role in our constant pursuit of continuous improvement in the evolution of our best-in-class simulation products.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives direct supervision from management personnel; may assist other departmental employees in the performance of the job functions. Does not supervise any other position(s). Frequently exercises discretion.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates or updates 3D CAD models and converts them into workable drawings with dynamic BOM (Bill of Materials) tables and other key elements as per documentation standards.
- Documents parts, subassemblies, and assemblies, detailing electronics, pneumatics, mechanical, and molded components
- Creates and modifies documents, including generating BOM, schematics, exploded views, and manufacturing procedures and ensuring their accuracy and completeness.
- Creates and modifies change notices/orders.
- Maintains effective communication with Management, SMEs, Production, QC, Purchasing, Repairs, and SAP to help ensure quality, manufacturability, and accuracy of documents.
- Supports production lines through product and component updates, including being present at all trainings.
- Completes all documenting projects, activities, or tasks in timely manner.
- Gains a deep understanding of Gaumard’s products and processes as assigned.
- Exhibits flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and priorities.
- Follows steps in compliance with established system processes.
- Satisfies current level departmental KPI’s performance system.
- Stays up-to-date with departmental standards and "How To" documentation practices, contributing to the development and improvement of processes.
- Evaluates and documents costing including direct material, direct labor, and or additional process costing to avoid errors.
- Promotes standardization of components.
- Completes assigned trainings to upgrade or improve skills and departmental efficiency.
- Collaborates with various departments to solve complex manufacturing problems.
- Manages projects using engineering principles and techniques.
- Uses research, analysis, conceptual and planning skills, particularly CAD.
- Considers the implications of issues such as cost, safety and time constraints.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related.
- 1+ years’ experience in product documentation or in support of production lines.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing techniques.
- Must have problem-solving and analytical skills and must be able to carry out duties with minimum supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Skilled in CAD, in particular SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Ability to prioritize scheduled projects to meet due dates.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Goal oriented with the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish (spoken and written) preferred.
- Knowledge or experience in SAP systems or similar ERP systems.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to set goals, prioritize tasks, balance time to improve productivity.
- Ability to express and exchange ideas and information in both written and verbal formats to convey detailed instructions with accuracy.
- Ability to communicate (read and write) effectively in a business environment.
- Ability to uncover insights of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems with minimal prompting or input.
- Ability to follow procedures and instructions.
- Ability to sit at a desk for long periods to assemble documentation and record data.
- Ability to walk the facilities to collect necessary data.
- Ability to lift, pull, push and carry objects and supplies (up to 20lbs).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use his/her fingers.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in determining how to conduct assigned tasks.
- Should possess excellent eye-to-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- The employee is interchangeably required to sit, stand, and walk.

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM must be willing and able to work some Saturdays or stay beyond scheduled shift if needed to meet business demands.
