Visiting Scholar - Military Veterans
at Argonne National Laboratory
An advanced system analysis tool SAM is being developed at Argonne National Laboratory for safety analysis of advanced nuclear reactors such as the fluoride-salt-cooled high-temperature reactors (FHR), with advances in physical models, numerical methods, and software design. SAM capability is being enhanced for KP-FHR systems or components for reactor safety considerations and licensing applications.
Position Requirements
In this project, I will assess the readiness of the SAM code for using Best Estimate Plus Uncertainty (BEPU) methodology for KP-FHR licensing analysis. The SAM code capability for various reactor transients will be assessed. Transient simulations of various FHR design-basis events will be analyzed with uncertainty quantification (UQ) included. I may also support the modeling and simulation of other advanced reactor systems, perform verification and validation and UQ of code simulations, or develop advanced UQ methods.
