This position is located in the Division of Risk Management Supervision, Chicago, IL Regional Office of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the areas of reviewing IT examination reports and related correspondence for substance to ensure the report conclusions and assigned ratings are supported by the data and that the examiner properly presented recommendations.
At the full performance level, major duties include: Reviews IT examination reports and related correspondence for substance to insure the report conclusions are supported by the data and that the Examiner properly presented recommendations. Identifies IT centers and services which do or may present supervisory problems, determines the extent of supervision needed, after discussion with Supervisor, makes recommendation to the Regional Director for correction and prepares summaries and reports to be sent to the Washington Office and maintained in the IT Examination Tracking system. Provides advice, counsel, and guidance to field IT and safety and soundness Examiners on special IT situations, and Case Managers an IT examinations, and the coverage and preparation of IT reports. Prepares a summary of findings for permanent records and prepares cover letters to the Washington Office, State Banking Department(S), other Federal Supervisory Agencies and the IT center or servicer for transmitting copies of the reports with a summary of significant aspects of the case. Initiates follow-up of service provider deficiencies and handling IT correspondence and telephone inquiries in the Regional Office. Responsible for maintaining the IT Examination Tracking System. Meets with and participates in meeting with financial Directors and high level banking officials in IT problem situations. Participates in FDIC and inter-agency conferences and symposiums, professional IT seminars and conferences and educational programs. Also, may serve as instructor in the FDIC’s various IT training courses or as a coach in the FDIC's Information Technology OJT training program. Schedules IT examination activities for the Region including liaison with other Federal and State Supervisory Authorities on IT matters. Schedules examinations of service providers, including service providers which operate multiple sites, involving the participation of multiple regions and agencies in the examination. Involved in examinations of service providers, serviced departments and serviced banks including large, complex or problem data centers and data centers examined under the Significant Service Provider Program.
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. CG-13: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing insured depository institution examinations and evaluating the safety, soundness, and posed insurance risk of a financial institution; and conducting information technology (IT) examinations of financial institutions and/or data centers using a variety of software applications. CG-14: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-13 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing insured depository institution examinations and evaluating the safety, soundness, and posed insurance risk of a financial institution; conducting information technology (IT) examinations of financial institutions and/or data centers using a variety of software applications; and leading information technology (IT) examinations. Candidates must be a Commissioned Risk Examiner in the FDIC or another organization with comparable commissioning criteria used by the FDIC’s Division of Risk Management Supervision.
