The UC Irvine School of Medicine Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation's mission is to: Discover - Advance physical medicine and rehabilitation through innovative basic science, translational and clinical research. Your Role on the Team Involves recommending, developing, implementing, administering, coordinating, and / or evaluating Academic Human Resources policies, labor contracts, statutes, programs, and procedures covering one or more of the following: academic recruitment, appointment, and advancement; compensation and salary administration; faculty welfare programs; visa procurement; benefits; payroll; training and development; faculty misconduct; and faculty equity. What It Takes to be Successful Required: Ability to organize a diverse workload, to prioritize projects, work independently and use initiative, organize and follow through with complex tasks and to establish strategies and action plans to achieve targeted objectives within set timeframes. Skill to manage complex calendars and scheduling requests and to anticipate and coordinate all preparatory arrangements for meetings, and events. Excellent interpersonal skills to relate easily and effectively with people within and outside University, including both strong and written and verbal communication skills. Ability to research, properly evaluates information, and prepares concise, well-organized reports, summaries, and correspondence. Ability to design effective systems and procedures to handle a large volume of projects, incoming materials, and concurrent deadlines. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills and the ability to compose letters, memoranda, and other documents using word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Resourcefulness in finding appropriate solutions to problems and initiative in presenting alternatives and implementing solutions to ensure effective change. Ability to anticipate problems and take necessary action to eliminate or mitigate potential negative effects. Working knowledge of personal computers and proficiency utilizing standard software programs and information technology. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Proven ability to develop and run automated reports and tracking systems. Knowledge of PC/Word processing, and basic computer systems. Experience in Academic Affairs and Human Resources, University, and Medical Center policy and guidelines. Ability to develop slide presentations, use scanning, LCD projector and other wireless devices. Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training 1-3 years of relevant work experience with a BA/BS or equivalent experience Preferred: Experience working in an academic University environment. Knowledge of UC academic appointment process. Working knowledge of various University policies and procedures.
