Assistant Director, Leadership Development | University of Chicago (UC) - Military Veterans

Location: Chicago, IL Job Description: Translates class module designs and learning goals into concrete plans with assistance from class or program manager. Creates learning materials, plans logistics, coordinates with partners, reserves space and follows through. This will include the configuration of Canvas, a learning management system, to organize reading, assignments, quizzes and other forms of student engagement.  Executes plans and manages information for assigned courses and programs. Implements processes for student enrollment, engagement and student communication. Plans course day roles and responsibilities, solicits feedback, conducts debriefs and continuously improves learning module delivery.  Fulfills key tasks related to the functioning of the LDO. These may include office communication, procurement, operations and budgetary processes. Builds strong relationships within and beyond the LDO to support the delivery of class and program modules. Close collaboration is required with student life, academic services and admissions. Relationships include staff from other departments, coaches and outside experiential vendors.  Plans, schedules, and executes training exercises and workshops that support the learning of the facilitators and participants. Prepares program communications, including creating and coordinating dissemination of program materials. Performs other related work as needed. Preferred Qualifications Education: Bachelors degree. Experience: A minimum three years of experience managing large-scale projects. Familiarity with budget management. Technical Skills or Knowledge: Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); willingness to learn new software programs. Preferred Competencies Proven ability to thrive in and contribute to a dynamic team environment. Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills, as well as organizational skills. Excellent project management skills with attention to both detail and timeliness. Work independently with little supervision; possess a self-motivated disposition; identify opportunities for improvement; and recommend effective changes. Work on projects simultaneously, meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and diplomatically with diverse populations, such as colleagues, as well as with students, faculty and corporate contacts. Working Conditions This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office. Work evening and weekend course and program dates as needed.
