Expected salary range of $140,000 to $158,500, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes commission and 401(k).
LOCATION
This is a field sales role prospecting and supporting customers nationally across the U.S. This role offers the flexibility to work from home when not traveling, but the candidate must reside near a major U.S. airport, to accommodate frequent travel needs. Our ideal candidate will live in one of the following areas: Chicago, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Philidelphia, New York, Baltimore, Boston, Houston, Charlotte, Atlanta, Nashville, or Washington D.C.
This position requires up 75% travel, locally within the geographic territory. Travel expenses, including mileage, are covered by Constellation's standard travel policy.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The candidate will be responsible for securing new Distributed Generation Projects and long-term Operational and Maintenance Solutions. This consultative, customer-facing sales role emphasizes the proactive identification, development, and closing of energy generation and operational solutions tailored to meet the customer's energy needs.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Drive annual sales results for Distributed Generation Projects and long-term Operational Solutions delivering signed project implementation contracts to achieve annual sales quota
- Proactive management of designated sales territory focused on securing organic and/or acquisition business within sales territory
- Establish and maintain a viable sales pipeline of qualified opportunities to achieve annual sales quota
- Facilitate in person, customer meetings focused on identifying the needs, challenges and compelling events confronting the customer
- Horizontal management of all internal functional teams ensuring all project deliverables align with the established sales strategy addressing the needs and expectations of the customer
- Establish and expand your professional brand within your sales territory through the strategic participation in key trade shows, conferences, seminars, trade associations and networking opportunities.
- Leverages existing market contacts and relationships to drive prospecting and business development activities
- Lead role for all project interviews, presentations, and stakeholder engagements.
- Forecasting accuracy associated with the closing of implementation contracts
- Timely and accurate reporting as required by sales leader
- Active participation in all required team meetings and events
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of direct sales experience successfully originating new business within at least one of the following technologies: distributed generation, energy systems, outsourcing of operations and maintenance, central utility plant, combined heat and power; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Demonstrated success in originating, negotiating and closing complex, recurring revenue Distributed Generation Strategic Outsourcing, Energy as a Service and long term Operational and Maintenance projects
- Successful track record of effectively developing and managing a defined sales territory
- Experience managing an extended sales cycle
- Ability to Identify, engage and motivate decision makers to take action
- Track record of success meeting and/or exceeding annual sales quotas
- Superior interpersonal and group presentation skills
- Ability to develop, cultivate, maintain and leverage contact networks and business relationships
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and experience
- Candidate must have the ability to speak, read and write English.
- Possesses an established executive level contact base within any of the following vertical markets - District Energy, Higher Education, Healthcare, Sports and Entertainment, Industrial Manufacturing, Municipal Wastewater Treatment, highly preferred
- In depth understanding of energy and mechanical infrastructure, technologies and systems
- Formalized sales training program via Sandler, Miller Heiman or equivalent
- Experience utilizing CRM platform
