NYU Paris is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach the following undergraduate course in Economics: Industrial Organization The course will analyze determinants of industry structure and the relation between structure and strategic behavior by firms. We will review the polar cases of perfect competition and monopoly before formally analyzing imperfectly competitive markets. We will use quantitative models and game theory to understand the role of discriminatory pricing techniques like discounts, bundling, tying, predatory pricing, and other entry deterring techniques. We will analyze the rationale and role of advertising and mergers before undertaking a study of theoretical auction models. Language of instruction: English Teaching commences in September 2025; courses meet for 3 hours a week for a 14.5 week term. Le cours passe des modles thoriques et mathmatiques aux donnes du monde rel et aux ensembles de problmes. Langue d'enseignement: Anglais L'enseignement commence en septembre 2025; les cours se rencontrent 3 heures par semaine pour une dure de 14,5 semaines. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Economics, and two or three semesters of teaching or comparable experience. The appointed person will have full responsibility for teaching and coordinating the course. The course is taught in a seminar, discussion-based style and offered to undergraduate students, mostly in their second or third year of study. All students are NYU students enrolled in NYU degrees in New York, Abu Dhabi or Shanghai who come to study at NYU Paris for one semester. Classes take place at our Academic Centre in Paris.
