Job Summary:
Under the direction of the NEXCOM Hospitality Group (NHG) Training Manager and assigned General Manager, complete Management in Training (MIT) curriculum and on the job training requirements. Achieve sufficient technical and operational proficiency to become a successful General Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completes training and operational duties at assigned NHG lodging operation to include Navy Gateway Inns & Suites and Navy Lodges. Additional training opportunities may be assigned at other geographical locations requiring travel.
- Learn all aspects of hospitality operations by job shadowing and hands on training in all departments and positions.
- Complete tasks by learning and utilizing systems, tools and software that apply.
- Prepares and submits periodic MIT progress reports to the Training Manager.
- Serves as the Manager on Duty as assigned.
- Conducts inspections of guest rooms, common areas, work areas, and storage areas to ensure NHG standards are met. Identifies deficiencies and implements appropriate corrective measures. Follows up to ensure deficiencies are corrected
- Responsible for implementing NHG policies and procedures as established.
- Provides adequate staffing for all areas of responsibilities. Evaluates the work performance of subordinate personnel. Reports deficiencies or concerns to the General Manager.
- Works with department supervisors to plan, conduct and record required training.
- Assists subordinates in resolving job related issues and personnel problems.
- Communicates with and motivates associates.
- Reviews and evaluates various operating reports and statistical data to complete required management reports.
- Assists the General Manager in gathering and evaluating data to prepare and administer the annual operating budget in conjunction with NHG.
- May represent the General Manager in meetings with or in the absence of the General Manager.
- Maintains liaison with NEXCOM and other activities, vendors and suppliers to ensure adequate levels of services and supplies.
- Monitors guest satisfaction and resolves guest complaints.
- Ensures proper control of operational records and files. Ensures compliance with all safety, fire and sanitation regulations for the safety of guests and associates.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Relocation based on company needs will be necessary at completion of the MIT program.

Requirements
A two or four-year bachelors degree in Hospitality or Hotel/Motel Management or Business Administration.
OR
A minimum of one year experience working in a supervisory or management position in a Hotel, Motel or similar facilities (such as: residential, resort, Airbnb, timeshare, vacation rental, serviced apartments, etc.)
Equivalent combination of education and experience that provided professional Hotel/Motel Management knowledge.
Current or Former Federal Government Retail management experience may be considered in lieu of hospitality experience.

With the exception of the Ships Store Program, the NEXCOM Enterprise conducts its operations as a federal non-appropriated funded instrumentality. As such, the command is self-supporting with 70 percent of its profits given to Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) programs and the remaining 30 percent reinvested in NEX buildings and equipment.
NEXCOM is a military organization and is subject to congressional legislation as well as oversight from the Department of the Navy. NEXCOM’s parent command is the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP).
The NEXCOM Enterprise boasts over 14,000 civilian associates in a wide variety of jobs worldwide, over 40 percent of whom are military affiliated as either family members or veterans. The bulk of NEXCOM’s workforce is comprised of government non-appropriated civilians, many of whom are also military affiliated as either family members or veterans.
