FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Educational Foundations and Counseling Programs in Hunter College's School of Education seeks candidates for an open-rank tenure track position in School Counseling or Mental Health Counseling effective late August 2025.

Duties include: 1) teaching graduate courses in our counselor education programs, 2) conducting research and academic scholarship, 3) student advisement, 4) serving on program, department, school, college and university committees, where appropriate, and 5) participating in professional organizations such as the American Counseling Association, American Psychological Association, American School Counseling Association, American Mental Health Counseling Association, and regional/national/international organizations.

The Hunter College School of Education is committed to educating a diverse student population. As such, all candidates must have experience with diverse populations and must have a commitment to work in multicultural and urban settings. Teaching experience is preferred. Program leadership experience and interest is highly preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required for Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor:

All candidates should either have earned a doctoral degree in counselor education or a related counseling doctoral degree. Candidates can also have an earned PhD in another counseling/psychology related degree such as counseling psychology, if they have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013. A master's degree in School Counseling or Mental Health Counseling and counseling experience with children, families, and schools is preferred. Certificate in School Counseling or Licensure in Mental Health Counseling is preferred. Other requirements include demonstrated teaching, scholarship, or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Experience with diverse populations is required. All candidates should have experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to working in multicultural and urban settings.

COMPENSATION

Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Assistant Professor: $52,267-$70,238

Associate Professor: $70,453-$90,375

Full Professor: $90,634-$115,333
