Temporary Research Assistant, Per Diem - Military Veterans

Position Summary:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Temporary Research Assistant for the department of Neurosurgery at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Assistant will conduct part-time basic and translational research working on projects related to understanding the cellular and molecular basis of interneuron function and dysfunction in health and disease. The laboratory aims to identify the mechanisms that can be translated into new scientific perspectives and successful therapeutic interventions for the treatment of various interneuron-associated brain disorders. Therefore, the Research Assistant will contribute to the lab's research program by determining functionalities of cortical interneurons in health and disease and develop novel therapeutic approaches to ameliorate circuit deficits caused by interneuron dysfunction.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Conduct stereotaxic neurosurgery research.
- Perform histological, molecular biological, and bio-informatical analysis.
- Perform a battery of memory-related behavior tasks.
- Present research project in scientific meetings.
- Write manuscripts.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Molecular & Life Science.
- Experience in biochemical, genetic, molecular or cell biological techniques; mouse experimental systems.
