We are seeking an experienced and engaging Adjunct Instructor- Driver Improvement Program (DIP) to deliver state-approved courses designed to help individuals improve their driving skills, understand traffic laws, and develop safer driving habits. The instructor will play a key role in educating participants, many of whom may be attending as part of a court-mandated program, to promote responsible driving and reduce future violations or accidents. Facilitate state-approved Driver Improvement Program (DIP) courses for individuals with driving violations or accidents Teach traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and the importance of safe driving practices Use engaging instructional methods, including lectures, discussions, and multimedia tools, to cater to different learning styles Create a supportive and respectful classroom environment Encourage participants to actively engage in discussion and self-reflection about their driving behaviors Address questions and provide guidance to help participants apply lessons to real-world driving scenarios Ensure classes are conducted in accordance with Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments , and course completion Stay updated on Iowa Traffic laws, driving safety research, and instructional best practices Participant in periodic training or certification renewal to meet program standards Applicant must be willing to travel to all center locations. Certification or approval to teach Driver Improvement Programs in Iowa (or willingness to obtain certification) Be certified to be a Prime for Life instructor (or become certified) or NCTI Crossroad Cognitive Certified In-depth knowledge of Iowa traffic laws and safe driving practices Strong verbal communication and instructional skills Experience teaching, coaching, or facilitating educational program for adults Background in traffic safety, law enforcement, or education Familiarity with adult learning principles and techniques Ability to foster a positive and nonjudgmental learning environment Strong organizational skills for managing course materials Proficiency in using basic computer software Ability to pass a background check, have a valid U.S. driver's license and good driving record
