Position Title: Graduate Student Services Specialist II Job Group: Professional & Scientific Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree and 2 years of related experience Preferred Qualifications: Experience providing academic services and resources to graduate students Experience using student information systems and databases (i.e., Workday) Experience working within academic policies and program requirements, adhering to deadlines Experience with event planning and coordination Experience delivering information through advising, training sessions, workshops or similar settings Job Description: Summary The Department of Chemistry seeks a Graduate Student Services Specialist to join a collaborative team dedicated to student success. In this role, you'll support current and prospective graduate students, helping them navigate their academic journey from application to graduation. Key responsibilities include: Counsel and advise prospective students on the application process for graduate programs. Coordinate the graduate selection process in collaboration with the Graduate Selection Committee Chair. Assist incoming graduate students with their transition and orientation to the Department. Provide guidance to graduate students on navigating degree and program requirements, as well as graduate student life. Lead and support graduate student recruiting efforts. Organize and coordinate in-person and virtual Open Houses for prospective students. Represent the Chemistry Department at various recruitment events throughout the year. Maintain internal databases and conduct annual reviews of current students. Manage assistantships on Workday, including editing Period Activity Pay and entering waivers and department graduate scholarships. Level Guidelines Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity.
