Associate - LGT Operations - Military Veterans

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$69,000 - $154,000

This position will work closely with the LSC-based Lilly Gene Therapy Lead Team, LGM Chief Operating Officer, LRL Operations team.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with LSC operations and LSC-based LGT team to oversee vendor relationships and support scientists in resolution of issues with vendors, including receiving quotes for non-catalogue orders, working with existing vendors through Scientist.com, and establishing new third party research service agreements with procurement as needed.
  • Manage the intake, storage, and distribution of critical IND-enabling reagents (lipids and mRNA) or samples (in vivo tissue) according to established protocols, along with their benchling registration. 
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process (e.g., Quartzy), including vendor selection, contract negotiation, purchase order creation, and supplier management.
  • Setting up blanket POs, approving invoices on Fiori, and submitting capex on behalf of scientist to procurement.
  • Work with the Unity team to ensure proper storage, labeling, and organization of goods. Oversee the receiving, storing, and shipping processes.
  • Contribute to and/or lead innovation culture initiatives in LSC LGT, include onboarding new scientists to the group.  
  • Contribute to and/or lead the development, improvement and maintenance of operational management information systems.

Basic Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of procurement or laboratory operation work experience.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Deep understanding of inventory management systems and methodologies, such as JIT (Just-in-Time), EOQ (Economic Order Quantity), and reorder point calculations.
  • Proven experience managing lab-specific procurement functions (e.g., chemicals, reagents, equipment, instruments, consumables).
  • Experience in working with contract management and negotiations with suppliers and service providers.
  • Demonstrated expertise in inventory management, with an emphasis on lab-specific needs, including stock control, order fulfillment, and forecasting.
  • Experience in managing supplier relationships and vendor performance evaluations to ensure cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influence skills including ability to provide advisership and develop teamwork between team members with diverse interpersonal styles, and appropriately network across a wide variety of functional components and/or external vendors/partners.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel).
