at Argonne National Laboratory
The eBERlight group at the X-ray Science Division (XSD) at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) supports biological and environmental research at the Advanced Photon Source (APS). eBERlight supports multiple techniques: macromolecular crystallography, X-ray full-field imaging, X-ray fluorescence microscopy, X-ray absorption spectroscopy and scattering techniques.
The program, operating across several APS beamlines, is currently seeking a beamline scientist with expertise in X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). The primary role for the successful candidate will be to provide support for user activities at associated beamline facilities operated by the Spectroscopy group, and advancing applications in the fields of biological and environmental science through close collaboration with the members of the Spectroscopy group and eBERlight users.
Responsibilities include:
- Design and implement synchrotron instrumentation, sample environments and scientific experiments.
- User operation and support.
- Data analysis.
- Coordinating support staff for assigned projects.
- Reporting project progress status and relevant results through presentations, reports, and publications.
- Building an eBERlight user community through outreach and training, education about program-supported techniques.
