Police Officer - Military Veterans

Norfolk, one of Virginia's largest cities is looking to hire strong military leaders for their police force.

As a military veteran, transitioning to a Police Officer role allows you to continue serving your community while utilizing your discipline, leadership, and problem-solving skills. You'll be well-equipped to respond to crime scenes, accidents, and emergencies, where your quick decision-making and tactical expertise will shine.

Your ability to lead and connect with others will be crucial in interviewing witnesses, suspects, and building trust within the community. The physical challenges of the job, along with detailed reporting and managing resources, will keep you engaged and active. You'll continue serving your community in a structured, team-oriented environment, with opportunities for growth and advancement, making a lasting impact on public safety.

As a Police Officer you will perform basic duties such as:

- Responding to the scene of a crime or an accident

- Interviewing suspects and witnesses

- Writing crime reports

- Responding to radio calls

- Monitoring any suspicious activity of ongoing crimes

- Coordinating vehicular traffic

- Visiting open businesses such as banks, markets, department stores, and service stations to establish a rapport with owners

- Booking suspects and evidence and transporting them to the appropriate Police Department facility

- Responding to citizens' and visitor's questions

- Performing numerous other activities in support of community policing

This is a 12-hour rotating shift between day and night with every other Friday, Saturday, Sunday off. On average you will work 16 days a month.

Bonuses: $5,000.00 sign on bonus after successful completion of academy/ $12K retention bonus for completing one year of duty. Overtime is available as well.

Leave: 96 hours of annual Leave, 96 hours of sick leave, 1 day of birthday leave, 1 day of diversity leave, holiday pay and leave: 13 holidays per year. 2 wellness days of leave.

Active duty / Reserve duty personnel receive 15 days of military leave per year.

$50K - $65K + 17K bonus for one year, plus overtime
