Biomedical Engineering Technician- Clinical Engineering Diagnostic Imaging Specialist - Military Veterans

Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect diagnostic imaging equipment. Will also perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing on diagnostic imaging equipment.
- Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect diagnostic imaging systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety testing of diagnostic imaging systems.
- Maintain documentation of all actions and test results according to department policy.
- Periodically travel to other Michigan Medicine facilities to perform service activities.
- Perform rounds in assigned areas and participate in on-call rotation.
- Serve as a resource to user departments by providing assistance and instruction on proper use of equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining documentation in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), TJC standards, CMS, and department policies.
- Comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Associate degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology or equivalent military training.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the biomedical field repairing and supporting a wide variety of medical equipment; or successful completion of Basics of Radiology Equipment courses 1 through 3 (such as RSTI); or equivalent in background and experience with a diagnostic imaging service provider (OEM or third-party service, or in house service) which includes a minimum of 4 years of experience in the field of diagnostic imaging systems repair and support.
- Knowledge of electronic theory, technology, and test equipment.
- Knowledge of radiology theory and technology.
- Knowledge of safety precautions when servicing high voltages and working with ionizing radiation.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and tools.
- Knowledge of basic networking theory.
- Ability to analyze electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to isolate, test, and replace defective parts.
- Ability to maintain accurate records of repairs, calibration, and tests.
- Equipment modalities may include IR, Ultrasound, and General X-Ray.
Work hours are Wednesday - Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (subject to change as needed)
On call after 1 year.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the U-M Skilled Trades Union, Inc., which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
