System Administrator/Network Support Specialist Associate - 3548 - Military Veterans

This position is a remote overseas assignment on Ascension Island, South Atlantic Ocean, in support of daily, special test and launch operations with no family accommodations. Essential Functions

• Provide day-to-day support of the Mission Enterprise Network
• Assist in supporting mission network infrastructure and resolve basic Routing, Switching, Firewall, Intrusion Detection, Load-Balancing, Serial to IP and Virtual environment incidents
• Perform basic Microsoft 2003/2008/2012/2016/2019 systems administrator duties for physical and virtual enclave computing environment
• Analyze, log, track and resolve software/hardware anomalies pertaining to networking transport connectivity, printers, servers, workstations, and applications to meet mission needs under the direction of more senior systems administrators
• Participate in establishing course of action and implement as approved
• Review system logs for vulnerability and optimization
• Assist in ensuring the enterprise is compliant and free/mitigated from vulnerabilities
• Work as a team member on technical issues
• Maintain complete technical documentation
• Support Information Assurance Cybersecurity Assessments
• Participate in 24/7 on-call schedule, responding to network outages and other events
• Follow all Change Management procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience

• AS degree in an associated discipline, (Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering) or completion of an IT certificate program, (Network Server Administration or equivalent program), or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 0 - 2 years' experience with system administration and related Information Systems, Computer/Network Security
• Basic knowledge or understanding of the following:
  • OSI Layer 3 Routing and Layer 2 Switching
  • OSPF
  • 802.1Q VLANs
  • MAC locking/filtering
  • QoS
  • SAN technology - storage - switches - Fiber channel and iSCSI
  • Windows 2008,2012,2016,2019 Active Directory administration
  • VMWare Data Center Virtualization technology
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6, 7, 8 and its CLI
  • Network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools
  • Knowledge of installing, configuring and troubleshooting O/S and server applications such as IIS, SharePoint, and MS SQL server
• Knowledge of data communications protocols (TCP/IP); principles and practices of security implementation in the areas of data communications and information systems; PKI, data encryption, encryption equipment, Firewalls, Department of Defense security regulations, and perimeter protection, preferred
• Working Knowledge of Windows 2000, NT, XP, Win 7, and Win 10
• Experience with SolarWinds, JUNOS, and Cisco IOS
• Experience with installing, configuring and troubleshooting O/S and server applications such as IIS, SharePoint, and MS SQL server

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• Ability to frequently move, transport, install and position equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to frequently ascend/descend, and traverse, work areas at heights of approximately 20 feet or more
• Ability to drive a vehicle with manual transmission
• DoD 8570 Certification (Security+ CE or CISSP or CASP), or ability to obtain and maintain certification within six months of employment
• The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
• Valid U.S. Driver's License
• Valid U.S. Passport or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire
