Bilingual (Spanish) Workplace Safety Consultant - Military Veterans

Job Description

This position exists to assist businesses and organizations in meeting the need for a skilled, safe workforce through employee and organizational development. The Bilingual (Spanish) Workplace Safety Consultant is primarily responsible for providing consulting, training, program development and coordination, assessment and evaluation services, and customer service to meet industry?s workforce development needs in Spanish and English. This position will serve as a liaison with local, state and federal departments and agencies and business and industry associations in providing the educational and training services to the client organizations and marketing these services to potential and existing clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS

1. Coordinate and deliver effective Workplace Safety and Health training programs in Spanish and English.

2. Sell, secure, and administer multiple contracts and projects to deliver education and training, development, consulting, conferences and other events and services.

3. Provide resource development and consultative services to the CWE Department to effectively serve Spanish-speaking clients.

4. Develop and maintain positive community and intercollegiate relations to insure the economic viability of the college and community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • 5 years of professional related experience (related experience can include teaching or training adults, administering workplace safety programs, or working in industry where there is exposure to workplace safety compliance training enforced by OSHA, MSHA, DOT, etc.)
  • Knowledge, experience and certifications in Workplace Safety and Health (Some examples may include, but aren?t limited to OSHA, MSHA, DOT regulations).
  • Experience teaching or training adult learners.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively carry out training, inside/outside sales, conflict resolution and negotiations.
  • Demonstrated computer and technology skills (Some examples may include, but aren?t limited to Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, Excel, Zoom, and D2L).
  • Strong planning and organizational skills to be able to set priorities and schedule activities.


Preferred Qualification
  • Experience teaching or training safety-related content.
  • Experience in program and curriculum development, needs-assessment and evaluation techniques, employee training and organizational development.
  • Experience translating (verbally and written) existing curriculum or other documents from English to Spanish or vice versa.
  • Experience with a customer relationship management (CRM) tool such as SalesForce.
  • Experience with fiscal and project management.
  • Working knowledge of education and training programs offered through SCC?s Customized Workforce Education, with innovative and creative ideas to develop services and programs.
  • Currently has or is willing to acquire a Class-A Commercial Driver?s License.

  • In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (Minnesota State) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State?s Vehicle use criteria and consent to Motor Vehicle Records check.


Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)

Your regular work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 - 4:30pm with some evenings and weekends required, depending on schedule.

Telework (Yes/No)

No, the position is located on the North Mankato campus. Travel will be required to sites depending on the locations that are in the training schedule.

Travel

This position will office out of the North Mankato campus and will require regular travel within 100 miles of campus. Trainings can occur in the evenings and on weekends. There is flexibility in the position to balance time in the week if evenings or weekends are needed.?Out of state travel would be expected multiple times throughout the year with overnights included. This position also potentially requires in state travel 3-5 times a week to client locations to train."
