Job Overview



We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanic II to join our shop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Komatsu equipment. This role requires a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.



Key Job Responsibilities





  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on P&H equipment, including but not limited to Aftermarket, Process area, & underground components.


  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.


  • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and safety.


  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed.


  • Collaborate with other mechanics and shop personnel to ensure efficient workflow.


  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.


  • Provide excellent customer service and support to internal and external customers.


  • Primary focus on a safe work environment and employing safe work practices on a consistent basis.


  • Use of broad conceptual judgement, initiative, and ingenuity to work independently toward ultimate objectives on very involved and complex projects, to devise methods and procedures to meet unusual conditions and to make original contributions to solutions of complex problems.


  • Responsibility to prevent damage due to mistakes or carelessness to equipment or materials.


  • Working in a diverse team environment.


  • Any other duties as appropriate and required.


  • Ability and willingness to assist other departments as needed.




Qualifications/Requirements





  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanics is preferred.


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably with Rope shovels.


  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, with some knowledge of electrical & hydraulic systems.


  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software.


  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.


  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.




Additional Information



Physical Requirements:





  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).


  • Ability to work in various positions, including standing, kneeling, and crouching, for extended periods.


  • Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and fumes.

The Komatsu North America Mining Distribution and Service group is a critical part of our Komatsu global organization.  We, sell, install, service, provide parts and rebuild equipment, as well as provide digital solutions for our customers.  In the United States, we have a presence in 16 states across the US with 30 primary sites.  We have approximately 1,200 employees.
