About the position:
The GCC Piping Designer/Drafters as an essential partner and member of the Designs Drafting Team, This position plays a key role supporting the refinery's mission to operate optimally, reliably, predictably, and without incident at the lowest sustainable cost. This position will support Piping design and drafting projects as an individual contributor and may will work along side other designers and CAD operators supporting multi-discipline projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides piping design and drafting support for shutdown/turnaround projects, routine maintenance, and capital installations
- Provides quality assurance checking for all mechanical design packages
- Ensures completed design packages meet piping specifications, Safety in Designs (SIDS) requirements, Chevron Engineering Standards, and are easily maintained and operated
- Coordinates with Designs Engineers to determine job scope and generate design packages
- Forecasts project completion dates for sharing with Designs Drafting Team Lead, customers, and Designs Engineering Team Leaders
- Supports the adherence to Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations
- Provides quality solutions for complex piping designs and guidance on Chevron Engineering Standards and piping specifications
- Provides coaching/mentoring to less experienced piping designers and CAD Operators
- Participates in Operational Learning
- Submits and supports Operational Learning tools to improve team safety, product quality and efficiency
- Collects as-built information from refinery process units to support drawing updates and/or design packages
- 3-5 years of designs drafting experience with leadership and direct report responsibility experience in a Refinery or LNG production facility
- Skilled in the design and analysis of piping systems
- Ability to review piping system design & operating requirements, select appropriate pipe classes, and review piping system isometric drawings for complex piping systems
- Evaluate layout and support strategy of piping systems using quantitative & qualitative flexibility analysis
- Knowledgeable in updating P&IDS, PFDs, Isometrics and other forms of PSI

- Design experience in onshore oil and gas facilities is preferred
- Demonstrated skilled competency level to provide technical support for a refinery, process plant, or similar industrial environment is preferred
- Experience leading and mentoring technical teams in support of refinery, process plant, or similar industrial environment design applications is preferred
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and/or CADWorx is preferred
- Ability to develop BOMs to support design packages is preferred
- Basic understanding of Accruent Meridian or other electronic document management system is preferred
- Basic understanding of estimating tools and cost control is preferred
- Basic understanding of refinery processes and the interaction between refinery units is preferred
