Your Responsibilities
As a Part Time Student - Data Science and Analytics for John Deere located in Austin, TX, Urbandale, IA, or Champaign, IL, you will...
- Lead and/or support key data science and analytics projects for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group
- Utilize analytics techniques to clean, preprocess, explore, and analyze data sets and extract actionable insights
- Collaborate in a fun, friendly, and fast-paced team environment across disciplines and with key stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions for the business
- Present your findings in meetings and translate your results into reports and presentations
- Committed to working in an Agile-based environment
What Skills You Need
- Experience with Python and SQL programming languages
- School and/or work experience analyzing text and/or numerical data
- Experience with applied statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms
- Available to work during the academic year 16-20 hours/weekly during the business hours of 6 AM to 6 PM
- Available to work during the summer semester 35-40 hours/weekly during the business hours of 6 AM to 6 PM
- Must be able to commute to the John Offices in Urbandale, IA, Champaign, IL, or Austin, TX at least once a week, on a regular basis year-round
- Pursuing a Master's or PhD Degree in an analytical discipline including but not limited to Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Math, or Statistics
- Must be registered as a full-time student at a U.S. accredited college/university
- Graduation date of spring of 2026 or later
- Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above
- Experience using PySpark for distributed data processing and analysis.
- Exposure to data engineering principles and practices, including data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
- Understanding of MLOps principles and experience with deploying and monitoring machine learning models in production environments.
- Knowledge of AI concepts, LLMs and Foundational Models.
- Experience working with the Databricks platform, including notebooks, clusters, and Delta Lake.
- Experience applying computer vision techniques to machine learning problems.
- Experience working with geospatial data formats, including satellite imagery and rasters.
