Senior Project Engineer – Road & Highway Infrastructure - San Diego , California
Opportunity :
Our Parsons San Diego ,California office is now hiring for a Senior / Principal Project Engineer and Senior Project Engineer with demonstrated experience supporting road & highway in California for Caltrans projects . You will perform a wide variety of engineering tasks for highway, rail, and transit projects from feasibility studies, preliminary engineering, and final design to report writing and development of construction contract documents. Candidate may perform in a task lead capacity and take responsibility for delivering assignments. Extensive experience with Caltrans projects in California is essential. Willingness to travel to supplier, client, or project site locations, is expected. This role will support primarily projects in San Diego County and City, and Southern California.
Core Responsibilities include:
- Perform a variety of roadway engineering tasks such as geometric design, engineering analyses, and project plan development.
- High level experience with Microstation and Autocad as well
- Prepare engineering design plans, engineering computations, technical reports, specifications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates.
- Assist the project manager in executing and delivering project assignments.
- Coordinate and communicate with internal team and external clients/agencies.
- May plan, lead, and supervise lower level engineers on same assignments.
- Participate or project meetings as well as participate in site visits and field inspection as required.
- Registered Civil Engineer (PE) in California with experience in delivering PA/ED and PS&E projects is highly desirable.
● In-depth understanding of Caltrans design procedures, deliverables, standards, and its application.
● Invested in developing and mentoring junior staff.
● Experienced in roadway geometrics design, construction details, contour grading, signing and striping design, retaining wall design, utility coordination, and construction cost estimates.
● Skilled in MicroStation V8i, InRoads V8i, and 3D modeling.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
- Minimum 12 years or more of experience in roadway related fields.
- California Professional Engineer (PE) registration is desirable.
- Caltrans projects experience and knowledge of Caltrans standards, policies, and manuals.
- Proficient in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to apply advanced engineering techniques and practices as well as solve complex engineering problems.
