Job Summary
The Auburn UniversityRalph Brown Draughon Library offers advanced hardware and software for data analysis and data visualization activities. We are seeking friendly, outgoing graduate students to provide expert peer-to-peer consultations on topics such as statistical programming, geographic information systems (GIS), quantitative analysis, and data visualization. We seek a diverse cohort of graduate students to staff walk-up and virtual service hours for these and other data science topics.
This is not an assistantship.
Essential Functions
- Provide walk-in and virtual consultations in areas of expertise
- Troubleshoot software and project-related issues with users
- Opportunities to conduct workshops and classes
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicants should be students who are currently enrolled in a graduate program of study at Auburn, with a strong academic background and excellent customer service and communication skills
- Experience in one or more data analysis, mapping, or visualization applications like: R, Python, SAS, SPSS, ArcGIS, NVivo, Tableau, Excel, Adobe Creative Cloud applications, AutoCAD
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: Programming/scripting, data analysis, data visualization design, statistical methods, data cleaning, data harvesting, geographic information systems (GIS)
- Excellent customer service and communication

$15.00/hour
Work Hours
Student will work up to 10 hours per week with possible evening and/or weekend hours.

Welcome to Auburn University!
Auburn University was established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College, 20 years after the city of Auburn's founding. In 1872, under the Morrill Act, the school became the first land-grant college in the South and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1899 the name again was changed, to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Finally, in 1960 the name of the school was changed to Auburn University, a title more in keeping with its location, and expressing the varied academic programs and larger curriculum of a major university.
Today, Auburn is one of the few universities to carry the torch as a land, sea and space grant university. Our fall 2014 semester enrollment was 25,912. Our students can choose from more than 140 degree options in 13 schools and colleges at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels.
