The Leidos Defense Sector has an opening for a Fluid Mechanics Design Engineer to work in our Huntsville, Alabama office.
Primary Responsibilities
The person in this position will lead the execution of the design, development, integration, and test of fluid flow components and systems for mobile and stationary ground based weapon systems, radars, antenna systems, and more.
The person in this position will be responsible for applying sound engineering and design principles in the development and refinement of new and existing complex fluid mechanics systems (hydraulic, pneumatic, and thermal management systems) such as hydraulic power units, outriggers, stabilizers, payload erector systems, pneumatic actuators, and heat management/phase change systems.
The person in this position will be responsible for fluid system architecture, component and system trades, bill of material development, specification development, 3D CAD modeling of fluid flow components and supporting mechanical structure, fluid flow analysis, and fabrication and integration drawings. This person will collaborate across the design and project team and provide hands-on manufacturing and test support as needed.
This position will require development of Technical Data Packages using CAD software (CREO), PDM/PLM systems (Agile/Windchill) and supporting software (Visio) for the production and documentation of complex systems and components.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET-accredited university with 8+ years of experience or 4+ years with MS degree.
Candidate must have a minimum of 4+ years of fluid mechanics design engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: hydraulics, pneumatics, thermal management, or phase-change systems.
Candidate must be a resident of or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL are
Candidates must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
Candidate must have demonstrated experience in the following areas:
Pneumatic, Hydraulic, or thermal management system design of complex systems
Weapon systems, military hardware, erector systems, and/or industrial/construction/mining/agriculture equipment design experience
3D CAD Modeling
Drawing production in accordance with ASME Y14.100
Preferred Qualifications
Experience and demonstrated skill in any of the following areas is also a plus:
Hydraulic system design for mobile military equipment
Pneumatic system design and control
Phase change system design for heat management
Fluid system analysis and test
Mechanical structure design
Creo, SolidWorks
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Design team leadership or people management experience
Active Secret Clearance

Pay Range:
Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
