Job Description:
We are looking to engage a Design Director to implement solutions to some of the most complex of challenges. You will provide guidance and clear direction to your department, even when faced with the most nuanced of obstacles. We are targeting accomplished industry experts; in possession of a collaborative attitude and proven leadership capability.
What You'll Be Doing:
Directing the overall planning of design activities in-order to identify key milestones and priorities.
Determine the budget and staffing requirements for the defined design scope and schedule.
Overseeing all aspects of design operations, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, within schedule and budget whilst maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality.
Providing technical expertise and guidance on all design methodologies, collaborating with the relevant engineering teams to ensure that plans result in a structurally sound outcome.
Managing workforce to ensure efficiency is maximized and set schedules are maintained within budget. Taking preventative action when required to ensure that critical milestones on project are met.
Effectively managing all design department resource; including workforce planning, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
Ensuring the use of sound design and construction practices to safeguard quality control across the complete scope of work.
Proactive leadership and management of the relevant stakeholders to the design department.
Managing department budgets, procurement strategies and cashflow.
Preparing and presenting periodic reports to summarize design activity progress for senior internal management in addition to external stakeholders.
Mentoring and leading employees fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
25+ years of experience in the civil engineering industry, majorly secured within the design function. A minimum 10+ years of experience within a similar type and scale of project.
University bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in addition to professional qualifications deemed relevant to the seniority of this role.
Extensive experience in leading the design delivery on international mega-scale civil projects.
Clear experience in handling public contracts and a defined comprehension of relevant Italian legislation.
Ideally, the successful candidate will possess proven experience of leading design works on suspension bridge projects of a similar scale.
Proven stakeholder management skills to c-suite and national representation levels e.g., Minister level interactions.
Strong business acumen and the ability to make well-informed decisions based on data and analysis.
Fluent in both English and Italian language.
