Student Wellness Specialist--Office of Student Health Services POSITION DETAILS York College, founded in 1966, is a center of academic excellence in the heart of Jamaica, Queens. The College also offers six graduate programs: Aviation Management, Clinical Trials Management, Pharmaceutical Science and Business, Physician Assistant, Social Work and Nursing Education. Under the direction of the Director of Health Services, the Student Wellness Specialist will plan, organize, and direct Student Health Services programs and activities that will highlight the physical, social, and mental health needs and resources of students; including health conditions, prevention programming, health education, and awareness of resources and information to meet student health needs and ensure smooth, effective, and efficient department activities. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Develop and administer Student Health Services activities to enhance health awareness: ensure that related activities comply with established college and university standards, regulations, policies, and procedures. Prepare and administer direct communication of health services, resources, information and health education. Develop and promote student-centered wellness initiatives that encourage active participation in health compliance and wellness education, fostering a supportive environment that empowers students to prioritize their health and well-being as a foundation for academic success. Conduct program evaluation and review processes and student learning outcome assessments. Serve as liaison to faculty and staff by collaborating to enhance the integration of services and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of health programs and services. Develop and conduct department orientations and training sessions. Participate in Divisional activities as assigned, including New Student Orientation and programming to support students during final exams such as Study Up ???Til Midnight. Oversee the collection, verification, and documentation of required student immunizations, particularly the MMR vaccine, to ensure compliance with New York State???s Public Health Law 2165 and CUNY policies. Track immunization compliance rates and generate reports for college leadership, identifying trends and recommending strategies to improve student adherence to health policies. Work closely with enrollment management and academic advisement staff to ensure timely communication of immunization requirements to new and returning students, supporting their successful enrollment and retention. Student Wellness Specialists will be expected to work some evenings and weekends. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required Preferred qualifications: Strong presentation, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to successfully work with and present to diverse learners and audiences. Experience with Finance modules (such as eProcurement and PeopleSoft/CUNYFirst) and other payment processing systems (such as QCF payment forms, Research Foundation payment forms, ePAF (Electronic Personnel Action Form). Strong organizational skills; Ability to adapt and thrive in a time-sensitive, dynamic, student-centered office. Motivated and enthusiastic self-starter with the ability to work well under pressure, take initiative, exercise sound judgment, discretion and tact in various situations, and solve problems creatively and diplomatically. Experience working productively in collaborative settings. Proficiency in using Excel and other computer and software programs with the willingness to learn new systems.
