Laboratory Supervisor | The Ohio State University - Military Veterans

Manage and maintain Department of Materials Science and Engineering teaching laboratories and support research laboratories, including equipment maintenance, repair, ordering supplies, coordinating facility improvement and repair projects. Provide guidance and assistance on designing and building equipment, digital acquisition and control, foundry techniques, and mechanical testing for teaching and research projects. Advise and help to create drawings and select machining processes appropriate to the needs of teaching and research projects, serve as a liaison for machine shop work with College of Engineering and external machine shops. Teach hands-on, undergraduate laboratory sessions in metal casting, metal forming, and mechanical testing. Supervise and train undergraduate students to assist in all aspects of this role. Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field Required Experience: 2 years of experience in one or more of the following fields: design and working with machining processes, foundry techniques, metal forming, mechanical testing, and basic electrical circuit design; The ability to teach and interact with a diverse group of people effectively; The ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and maintain a safe environment for teaching and research. Desired Experience: 2-4 years of experience with computer-aided drawing (CAD) and computer-aided machining (CAM) software; 2-4 years of experience with Foundry Techniques; 2-4 years of experience with Mechanical Testing; Knowledge of digital acquisition and control hardware/software; Demonstrated success supervising people. Pay rate: $51,000-67,000 The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
