Rice Digital Learning provides a central resource for course design and production, digital marketing, program management and student success. https://online.rice.edu/about Position Summary The Senior Director, Growth Marketing & Analytics, is responsible for building and managing a comprehensive growth marketing strategy for the office of Digital Learning and Strategy at Rice University, which oversees Rice Digital Learning and related digital learning ventures. The Sr. Director works closely with Associate Provost of Digital Learning & Strategy, the Director of Operations for Rice Digital Learning , and other members of the leadership team to elevate and embed digital education across the university's schools and operations, while evolving and expanding the ecosystem of online for-credit and non-credit offerings (e.g., degrees, microcredentials, certificates, short courses). They will help promote a digital innovation and experimentation culture across Rice University through internal education, relationship building, and more. Charged with growing awareness, demand and preference for Rice's expanding digital offerings, the Sr. Director will coordinate direct-to-student digital marketing and lead generation efforts, while working with other campus marketing-communications units (e.g, Public Affairs, School of Engineering and Computing marcoms, Jones Graduate School of Business marcoms) to evaluate and/or implement new marketing programs, campaigns and tactics based on Rice University's mission, values, and ROI-based justification. Workplace Requirements This position is a hybrid role, combining both in-office and remote work to provide flexibility and support collaboration. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change. Annual Hiring Range: $160,000 to $170,000 *Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree 6 years of related experience with at least five years in a marketing and communications leadership role, and some experience in EACH of the following: Related experience in growth/performance marketing, digital marketing, lead generation, communications, brand positioning, and/or 1P data analysis Experience with paid, earned, organic and owned digital marketing tools, technologies, laws & regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR) as related to digital lead generation, CRM and enrollment management (e.g., Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, website CMS and LMS platforms, Google Search Console/SEMRush/Ahrefs, Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn Ads Manager, YouTube, social media platforms, HubSpot, etc.) Experience with agency/partner management Experience managing web developers, TSEOs, and technical talent Demonstrated success in managing a marketing communications function at a similar-sized or larger organization Skills Excellent presentation, verbal, visual and written communication skills, including experience writing persuasive and promotional communications Demonstrated ability to build strategic relationships and work effectively in a fast-paced environment as part of a creative, cross-functional communications team Hands-on ability to create and deploy marketing materials Demonstrated success in managing a marketing function at a similar-sized or larger organization Strong knowledge of internal and external creative services and web development resources Proven success in building, embedding and extending a brand and brand positioning by building support with internal constituencies and driving the positioning among external audiences Preferences 12-15 years experience, with five or more years in a marketing and communications leadership role Essential Functions Responsible for overseeing strategic communications and marketing initiatives, and developing long-range plans/programs to meet organizational objectives Defines and executes the communication and sub-brand strategy for the Rice Digital Learning and Strategy organization, incorporating appropriate channels Participates in university-wide and/or organization-wide initiatives and cross-functional teams to establish the organization as a strategic partner and thought leader Responsible for department operations, including the recruitment, management, development, and retention of marcoms & analytics staff Helps guide and set departmental budget, goals, and objectives in alignment with organizational goals Selects and oversees the department marcoms vendor relationships Guides early (directional) market research and analysis efforts while managing external research & data analytics firm relationships (e.g., quantitative or primary market research) Identifies available data to guide strategy and marketing/recruiting effectiveness while advocating for additional 1P data capture and full-funnel attribution with key Rice stakeholders (Office of Institutional Effectiveness, etc.) Manages analysts, internal partners, and/or external firms to execute learning analytics and marketing analytics projects to drive continuous optimization and improvement Oversees the management and hiring of key marcom staff for the Digital Learning and Strategy organization, including the current graphic designer and web developer, and future roles to support growing needs around data analytics, communications and faculty engagement, etc. Rice University HR | Benefits: https://knowledgecafe.rice.edu/benefits Rice Mission and Values: Mission and Values | Rice University Rice University is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity at all levels and considers for employment qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national or ethnic origin, genetic information, disability, or protected veteran status.
